Biography

A Commitment to Excellence

I  was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, granddaughter of immigrants. I have deep roots in the community and have long been dedicated to serving it. Throughout my life time, I volunteered with my church and various non profit organizations such as the Rescue Mission, Child Crisis Center, Senior Citizen homes. I was involved in honor societies and band while at UTEP. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree of Political Science Major and Criminal Justice Minor. I then went on to law school.

I graduated from the University of Arkansas, Bowen Law School. During my time there, I served as an officer of multiple organizations: Student Bar Association, Arkansas Student Association of Women Lawyers, Hispanic Law Students Association, and Delta Theta Phi Fraternity. I led the organization for all volunteer activities. I was a Big Sister as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and I would also volunteer at the local legal clinic serving underprivileged individuals.  I earned the Distinguished Dean's Certificate of Public Service for completing over 300 hours of volunteer time during my 2 1/2 years in law school.

Upon my return to El Paso, I became a part of the UTEP Alumni Association Board.  Currently, I am a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Texas Bar College, and serve on the executive board for the El Paso Young Lawyers Association. I also serve as mentor to young women as a part of the El Paso Women's Bar Association.  am also the Humanitarian Coordinator on the local and national level for the church. Additionally, I am a trained mediator helping and serving others resolve conflicts, most importantly with dignity and respect.

Immediately upon passing the bar exam, I began working as Social Security Disability Law attorney for Wayne Wright, LLP.  I then worked as an Assistant City Attorney and Prosecutor for the City of El Paso. After working as a Prosecutor, I opened my own practice as an defense attorney, zealously advocating for my clients and having a 100% dismissal rate in Municipal Court and Justice of the Peace Courts. I also handle estate planning cases. I am also licensed to practice in the United States District Court, Western District of Texas (federal court).

In January 2020, I was appointed as a Municipal Court Judge by the Mayor and City Council of El Paso. My experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney provides an advantage and ability to be impartial and fair on the bench. I have experience in all roles in the Courtroom, which provides me the ability to understand different perspectives and run an efficient court. I am the ONLY candidate to have the relevant Municipal Court experience as a Prosecutor, Defense Attorney, and Judge. I have dedicated over 8 years to Municipal Law. I do not have a learning curve and run my court efficiently so taxdollars are utilized prudently.

During my time as a current Municipal Court Judge, I have already implemented changes to improve the functions of my court as well as ensuring justice prevails, which has increased case adjudication and saved taxpayer money on staff time. The court system needs a Judge that can be efficient, well balanced, fair, and be compassionate. As a Judge, I have the important role of ensuring the safety of our community as well as improving individuals' lives. I preside over my court with respect, dignity, and fairness to all those that come before me. I look forward to continuing serving the citizens of El Paso as Municipal Court Judge for Court Number #4.
